Week 80

Hey Fam!

So this week was pretty basic. I feel like a lot of my weeks this past while have been basis. Sorry missionary work isnt all fun and games. jeez.

This week its been getting colder. So thats nice. Napoleon Dynamite actor guy came to the stake for a youth conference so we snuck in. It was aight. He looks way different now.

We contacted a referral this week that showed a lot of promise. when we returned we went into their house and it was pitch black with heavy curtains over everything. only candles lit it up. I thought I was gonna die. TUrns out they think that the Jesuits (catholics) are behind everything ever. Like 9/11 and the Nazis. Pretty interesting. They gave us some material. Just a bunch of weird comics about the Catholics being evil. It was pretty weird. needless to say we wont go back.

Also I burnt a pair of pants cuz it was my 18 month mark last week! woooooo!

Week 79

Heyyyooooo

Another average week in Upland. People cancelling, people droppin. BUmmer missionary week man. It was still fun though. SOme cool things happened.

Our apartment had its mailboxes broken into but my package wasnt stolen #miracle

Someone in the apartment next to us 'accidentally' shot off a shotgun and it hit our wall, we werent home. thats sorta #miracle/bummer cuz it woulda been a way cooler story if we were at home 

A less-active member gave me and Elder Conder (on exchanges) a bacon wrapped hotdog with some of the spiciest sauce money can buy on it without telling us. tears were shed. it was delicious though #spicy

same less-active brought his girlfriend to church on sunday and she is interested in learning more #Miracle

We helped a non-member move in a different ward, then found out that they aren't interested at all and they use the church and missionaries as their moving company #9hourslater

But yea, it was cool. LIke literally is getting kinda chilly. My blood has thinned out hardcore, Im ashamed.❄⛄🌨

Week 78

wassup fam!

This week was suuuuuuuuper basic. 

We didnt have dmeet tuesday because we had another zone conference. We are going to start having them every transfer now which is like a blessing and a curse. They are super fun and spiritual. I learn a lot and we get to see all the other homies around the mission. However, they drain all my energy and I am pretty much dead the rest of te day. But hey, they give us lunch. #blessed

We did a lot of finding this week. Or.. we tried a lot of finding activities this week. I get super annoyed when all these people turn us down and we see little success, but at the same time I feel pretty sad. THey dont know what they are missing out on.

I love the story of Abinadi, he tries so hard and is so diligent, yet he never sees any of his labor bring forth fruit. Little did he know in this life that he converted Alma and thousands more. Planting seed people. If thats all you can do, do it. That sort of how Ive seen member missionary work out here, line upon line and such.

But yea nothing super amazing.

Week 77

What up fam!

Just another day in the lone and dreary wilderness that is Upland.

Man its been a tough week. We had a gator antied on us, so he started lying and told us he moved to orange county even though we still see him walking around on the daily. Kind of a bummer when Satan gets to these peeps.

Man it got so hot here I was wearing short sleeves all day ere day, hows it up there in the great white north? ha I bet its cold! (I just say this to make myself feel better, I miss the snow so much😥) But its chill. We know there is work here we just gotta find it. We will find it!

Week 75

sup fam,

sorry this week was really bad. I got the flu and was down for pretty much the whole week, that was miserable. Other than that just transfers happening and such. Staying in uptown.

We had exchanges, Elder Manfull came over to our area with me. This was our last productive day cuz the flu hit me real bad around lunch and I crashed.

We went to a less actives place and he gave us a huge box of snickers. like huge, he got them for free from the mars bars warehouse so he gave us a lot. He also showed us a bunch of sharp pointy swords and such. no pics though. sorry fam.

We had a missionary broadcast on wednesday, that was pretty good. A lot of recap from last year but they changed the missionary schedule. 

dang im sorry but nm else to say. Next week ;)

Week 74

hey fam! 

this week wasnt very eventfull im sorry. 

We tried by everyone we had but Satan is workin pretty hard on em so that sucks.  ALso the rain was pretty bad. I actually had to wear a jacket for once so that was cool. It was literally pouring and has been since thursday. 

I had my toe worked on again, it keeps getting ingrown which sucks. This is the third time on this toe. Just take the whole thing already amirite?

We had zone conference in Rancho on thursday which was cool. We talked a lot about ward mission plans which I honestly had no idea was a thing before the mission. You guys should totally check out your ward mission plan to help out the missionaries.

We stayed in a lot this week as per instructions from leaders and sickness. kinda boring. Ive been reading the scriptures a lot. good thing we have puzzles.

Week 73

whaats uuuuuuuuuup!

man so many American holidays. so yesterday the biblioteca was closed

We had a pretty pimpin week, monday we had to rush over to our appt because it was getting pretty late (they say to just come by monday night) and we caught them home. Its a less active and her youngest kids but her 25 year old son is home from school until august. We talked in the living room and he sat down and participated and asked for a copy of the Book of Mormon, it was sweet! The mother was super surprised because she was always trying to get him to go to the church she goes to now but he wants to come to our church. freakin sweet.

so then we got a call one morning from this crazy less active that we have been trying to get in contact with. he wanted to donate his bike to the mission. We got on the topic of people stealing bikes from missionaries and I told him that we used u-lock. He got all exasperatted and told us thats what the government wants us to call them but they are actually called "kryptos" because they are made out of kryptonite, like the same material that harms superman. I tried to explain to him that was the name of a brand that makes the lock but he was firm in his argument. Man people in cali are crazy

there was an air show at the airport nearby which was cool, got some pics of the mountains on a clear day so thats nice. they are super small though. I miss my rockies :(

ON saturday the youth had something called 'Camp Helaman' so each missionary companionship got a youth for the day. Ours was pretty chill, we taught quite a few lessons and got in with a lot of people we had lost contact with.

Dinner on sunday was interesting, a member invited her friend over, who is from France. She was telling me about how to get a supermodel girlfriend after im done with my crazy youthful years of ski-bumming it was hilarious because she was dead serious but everyone else was losing it. So Ill disappear after I get home for a few years to ski bum for a while and then ill return with a model girlie with me. just you wait fam.
